Next month in March, I will handover the role as Chair of CADS to Julia Heidstra. But more about that next month!

February Meeting

Our February lunch was very well attended .This was the first time we had arranged

that you would buy your ticket via our new website. It all went rather well, so thank you for adapting to the new process so easily! Our speaker was Pieter de Zwaart. Pieter is an expert on Napoleon, as well as being an independent entrepreneur. He took us on a journey through the life of the French Emperor, exploring his strategic masterstrokes, his leadership qualities and also what went wrong. It was really fascinating!

Calendar of events – 2026

To help with planning ahead, check out our confirmed event calendar for 2026. Please note that a few dates are slightly off the usual 3rd Friday due to venue availability or public holidays. Next month sees my final meeting as Chair and I have invited Leigh Turner, the author and ex Ambassador to Ukraine to be the guest speaker.

Julia and I have also secured a visit to CADS from the new(ish) UK ambassador to the Netherlands, Chris Rampling CMG MBE. I won’t put the date in here just yet, for security reasons, but do keep an eye out for the notice of when he will attend one of our lunches.

We’re always looking for excellent speakers – particularly for the second half of 2026 – so if you know someone compelling (or would like to speak yourself!), let me know. We don’t pay external speakers, but we do thank them with a nice lunch and a bottle of something lovely.

Membership subs – 2026

Thank you to everyone who has already paid their 2026 subscriptions. There are just 6 of you, who have not yet paid – you know who you are! We would be grateful if you would arrange for your membership subscription to be paid as soon as possible, please.

One of the aims of CADS is to make charitable donations. If you know of a worthy cause, please tell us about it so that the Board can consider it for future support.

Final Note

Thanks for all your ongoing support and enthusiasm. It’s what makes CADS such a special community. Our next event is on Friday March 20th at 12.30, at the KIGC in Amsterdam. Our speaker is Leigh Turner, and it will also by my last event as Chair. It would be super to get a big crowd along so that I can say goodbye in person, to as many of you as possible.
