My dear CADS,
I hope you are enjoying this festive season. Just a very short missive from myself this month, I’ve been busy enjoying too many Christmas parties – so different from last year! CADS held its annual Jokathon on Friday at the K.I.G.C.. For those who attended (see below) we had an absolute ball! There was a very high quality of joke-telling with hardly any one-liners (phew!). The current champion John Cameron-Webb made a valiant effort to retain his crown but he was pipped to the post by Carol Waters, a very worthy winner. She was absolutely hilarious the way she made such tenuous links through all the jokes ( you had to be there!). She took the trophy home with her to the UK, with great confidence that both her and Mike will be back next year to defend her title!
I cannot quite believe that it is already December! Maybe it’s my age but a year has never gone by so quick! I’m looking forward to spending Christmas in Amsterdam with my 3 sons and the dog Otis, eating and drinking too much wine and chocolate, natuurlijk! I am very excited about 2023 and CADS. We plan to bring the ‘commercial’ angle of the Commercial Anglo Dutch Society more into focus through expanding the membership and business networking, but of course in our inimitable
CADS style. More on this in the New Year plus the full calendar for the year – so you can put all the dates in your agenda. Our first event in the 2023 calendar will be the January lunch on Friday 20 th at the KIGC.
I hope that you are all able to enjoy the holiday celebrations in the way that you want, with the people you want to be with! Wishing you all a very merry relaxing time, and all the best for a healthy and happy 2023!
Warm regards,
Jennie
