My dear CADS,

How are you? I hope that you are all doing well. We have certainly been blessed with wonderful weather here in the Netherlands. Days upon days of crisp blue skies, it’s absolutely stunning!! Talking of being blessed, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mike Waters so much for the way that he has helped me in
the early days of me becoming Chair of CADS. Being a relatively new member myself, I did not necessarily know how things were ‘done’ at CADS, and Mike has been absolutely superb in the way that he has steered me and given his counsel, without telling me what to do! Thank you Mike!

Mike was our Chair for 10 years from 2010-2020! Now that I am at the helm, I am even more aware of how great Mike’s contibution was to our society, over that whole decade. Ever the bon viveur, Mike was the perfect Chair who welcomed members, new and old alike, with a warm smile and a good networking connection! He entertained us every month with his humourous newsletters and he always managed to get very interesting speakers for our lunch meetings. Mike also led many fund raising initiatives on behalf of CADS for our chosen Anglo-Dutch charities. In addition, during the dreaded Brexit uncertainty, he led efforts to clarify personal and commercial rights for UK citizens in The Netherlands, including personally taking legal action against the Dutch government to secure such rights. On behalf of our Society, I would like to say a huge thank you to Mike!

Our Febraury lunch was cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions here in the NL on Febraury 18th but we re-scheduled to March 4th, and had an absolutely super time at the Fletcher Wellness Hotel in Leiden. Nino Nelissen gave us an informative talk on the taxation implications of retiring abroad, and judging by the numerous questions he got, he was covering a topic that many of us are very interested in! Thank you Nino!

Our March meeting is a drinks reception for Mike & Carol Waters at the UK Ambassador’s Residence in Den Haag on March 17th from 5-7pm, with an optional dinner afterwards at the Carlton Ambassador Hotel. The drinks reception will be €45 per person and the dinner is €60 per person (2 courses incl. wine and coffee & tea).
Please RSVP if you haven’t already done so, and of course, please remember to pay!

Looking forward to seeing many of you on the 17th!

Warm regards,

Jennie
