From the British Consulate in The Netherlands

Please read below for important information about applying for a British passport from The Netherlands.

From 3 June 2013 passport applications from The Netherlands will no longer be processed at the Regional Passport Processing Centre in Paris.

Instead applicants will be directed from the website to send their passport application to :

Identity and Passport Service
OVS-D
Millburngate House
Millburngate,
Durham
DH97 1PA

In 2006 the National Audit Office recommended that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Identity and Passport Service look at ways of reducing costs, reducing the security risks associated with transporting large volumes of passport books internationally and merging of the UK and overseas passport services.

All passport applicants now receive the latest passport with more sophisticated security features designed to reduce the likelihood of identity theft and passport fraud.

If you wish to apply for, renew or replace a British passport from outside the UK please visit www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

Renewing a British passport takes 4 weeks from when the Identity and Passport Service receives your application.

Applicants should avoid leaving applying for their passport until the last minute.

Passports can be renewed at any time.  Any remaining validity up to nine months will be transferred from the old passport to the new one.

Many countries insist on passports having a minimum validity of six months before they will permit entry. In advance of travel applicants should check the immigration requirements for any country you plan to travel to. Information can be found on the GOV.UK website at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
