This week’s notable act of random generosity, not surprisingly, goes to painter and CADS ex-chairman Mike Hayes.

Mike often donates his paintings to worthy causes and to people he finds interesting. His Saxophone painting — inspired many years ago by the visual appeal of jazz music — had yet to find that “perfect home”. Until now.

Moved by another act of kindness from a close friend, Mike was recently invited to a performance by Candy Dulfer, the infamous Dutch smooth jazz alto saxophonist.

The invitation gave Mike an idea. He contacted her manager, who is also her mother, to see if Candy would be willing to accept this Random Act of Generosity. It seemed she was more than happy to oblige, so here is Mike presenting Candy with his musical masterpiece.

“It just seemed like the perfect match,” said Mike when we interviewed him over the phone.
