We were an eclectic band of CADS and NBCC members last Friday 🙂 The sun shined, the balls behaved well, and Mark Hofstee Holtrop won the NBCC cup whilst Abel Rasterhoff won the CADS trophy. A great time was had by all. It would be great to see a few more CADS members taking up the challenge to win the trophy next year.
Willem van Hertog came up with the following ditty, which we sang over dinner.
WHEN CADS AND NBCC DO GO A-GOLFING
Tune: When a felon’s not engaged in his employment (Sir Arthur Sullivan)
When CADS and NBCC do go a-golfing (go a-golfing)
On a sunny or a very rainy day (rainy day)
One conundrum needs quite urgently resolving (-ly resolving):
Must the goings-on be seen as work or play (work or play)?
Work it must be when one hears the gents a-sighing (gents a-sighing)
When the ball completely out of bounds has spun (bounds has spun)
Still it’s play when you hear all the merry crying (merry crying)
When they’re happ’ly dreaming of a hole-in-one (hole-in-one)
Ooo-hooo
Out of bounds and water hazards are no fun (are no fun)
Still we keep on dreaming of a hole-in-one! (HOLE IN ONE!)
There is nothing that for joy is more defining (more defining)
Than to amble down a fairway to your ball (to your ball)
That’s assuming that the sun is brightly shining (brightly shining)
In the pouring rain it is no ball at all (ball at all)
And today we were quite lucky with the weather (with the weather)
With a gentle wind and mildly shining sun (shining sun)
So let’s hear it for the nine of us together (us together)
And let’s keep on dreaming of a hole-in-one! (hole-in-one!)
Ooo-hooo
Out of bounds and water hazards are no fun (are no fun)
Still we keep on dreaming of a hole-in-one! (HOLE IN ONE!)
Thanks Willem 🙂
