The January lunch produced a good crop of members to listen to Julian Tangaere tell us about Antarctica. You can find some of the amazing facts he gave us via John Richardson’s blogs on the new CADS website – check it out if you haven’t already done so. We have moved to a WordPress solution, which enables much easier reading, authoring and editing.
For the February lunch on the 24th, I will be travelling in the UK and Mike Carn has kindly agreed to step in and chair it. Our speaker is Marti Sijthoff, who is coming to speak on the subject of leadership, and specifically describe the work of the European Leadership Forum.
During 2012 CADS have our Golden Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth has her Diamond Jubilee, and London has The Olympics!
One of our first activities of this special year is to sponsor the CADS Olympic Mile for Sport Relief. This takes place on March 23rd at 1500hrs at the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium. Organisation is by the British Embassy, and CADS is sponsoring the event. We want as many members as possible to sign up, and are preparing a sign-up sheet and fund raising support on the CADS website, courtesy of Benno Pieters. We aim to raise in excess of 2,000 Euros. Several members have signed up already by email to info@cads-amsterdam.org, including Mike Carn and myself. So please do join in and help to raise funds for a worthy cause. You don’t need to be particularly fit. It is a mile race, and you can complete it at whatever pace suits you. There will be 150 runners competing from the Amsterdam British School, and ~ 350 in total, including the Dutch police force. Although I doubt they will be on our heels for very long!
