Two brothers aged 43 and 53 and their 51-year-old sister were stuck in a lift in an office complex in Tilburg for 17 hours over the holiday break.
They were released as people arrived for work on Tuesday morning, having become trapped on Monday when the 53-year-old showed his siblings around his new place of work.
None of them had mobile phones to call for help and the lift emergency system did not work, the Telegraaf reported.
The rest of the family had alerted the police when the trio failed to turn up for a meal on Monday evening.
According to the Telegraaf, the three were not worried about being stuck because they knew they would be found on Tuesday.
