My dear CADS,
I hope this finds you all well. Spring has definitely sprung – isn’t it wonderful?
This is just a short newsletter this month due to yours truly moving house and having not a moment spare to leave the unpacking to one side and start being creative.
Gosh, it’s been a tad stressful! I’m also embarrassed to admit that I have really struggled to survive without Wi-Fi for 5 days – no TV, Radio, Netflix etc. I did not realise how addicted I was to being online! Hopefully all resolved with a visit from Ziggo this afternoon.
Our March dinner was a belter! – a super example of a CADS event with a speaker who delivered such an interesting presentation that everyone stayed on chatting with him long after the coffee. Our guest speaker was Marc Wessilink of VentureRock. Marc is a very experienced investor & entrepreneur. He was the co- founder of Just Eats and was able to share with us, the background to the creation and subsequent significant transactions involving that company. He also described many of the other organisations that he has been deeply involved with. Marc eloquently described this part of his presentation as the interesting ‘f-ups’ that he has participated in. And to close the presentation, Marc described the investment opportunity in Venture Rock, a venture-building and venture investment platform that advances technology, science and innovation to co-create and grow the next-gen of global tech companies. All in all, it was a fascinating presentation!

Congratulations to René Weijerman who celebrated his 85th birthday this month. We were all delighted that René, despite his busy schedule of celebratory events, could attend our dinner. We also had two new faces to the club – Monique Vrolijken and Cornelis Visser – give the customary introductory presentation of themselves to the other diners. This is a lovely tradition that I am sorry to report has recently been overlooked, but I do intend to bring it back! March also saw Kristy Bryars, our speaker last month from the International Justice Mission, join the club. How lovely that she enjoyed herself so much at the February lunch ,that she joined our society! A warm CADS welcome to Monique, Cornelis and Kristy.
